Delta Air Lines chief executive Ed Bastian has threatened legal action against the operators of London Heathrow Airport over a planned move that would separate the carrier from its partner, Paddley Too and PYOK reported. The airport plans to relocate Delta from Terminal 3 to Terminal 4. [1][8]
The forced relocation is scheduled to take effect in 2028, according to Paddley Too. Ed Bastian criticized the decision to separate Delta Air Lines from Virgin Atlantic, its joint venture partner currently based in Terminal 3. Terminal 4 is located more than one mile away from Terminal 3. [1]
Terminal 3 handles international flights at Heathrow Airport, which is the largest airport serving London. The airport previously opened its rebuilt Terminal 2 site in June 2014, which was originally built in 1955 as the Europa Building. [1][9]
The proposed terminal shift would force connecting passengers between Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic to transfer across terminals instead of sharing facilities. It remains to be seen whether Heathrow Airport will modify its 2028 plan or face formal legal proceedings from Delta Air Lines. [1]
