American Airlines has terminated service to three destinations from its flight schedule this year. The New York Post and Simple Flying both report that the canceled destinations include Santa Maria in California, Tijuana International Airport in Mexico, and Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar. [1][4]
The carrier ended flights to Santa Maria earlier this year and stopped operating to Tijuana in August, according to the New York Post. The same report noted that the airline made its largest cut in March by dropping its nonstop Boeing 787-9 service between Philadelphia International Airport and Doha. [1]
The 14.5-hour route between Philadelphia and Doha was ended due to weak financial performance and ongoing Middle East tensions, the New York Post reported. Simple Flying added that each of the three dropped markets experienced distinct pressures that shifted aircraft usage across the network. [1][4]
American Airlines is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. It operates as the largest airline in the world based on passengers carried and total daily flights, serving nearly 350 destinations across 48 countries. [1][10]
