The former Royal Caribbean cruise ship Majesty of the Seas has been listed for sale for 40 million United States dollars. Cruise Hive reported that the 34-year-old vessel is listed on Yachtworld, a boat sales platform and multiple listing service based in Miami. The listing identifies the vessel as a 1992 Custom 880-foot cruise ship. [1]
Although the listing does not explicitly state the name Majesty of the Seas, Cruise Hive reported that the characteristics match the vessel. Royal Caribbean International was originally founded in Norway in 1969 and has operated as a subsidiary of the Royal Caribbean Group since 1997. [1][5]
Separately, Cruise Industry News reported that marine engineering firm LTH Baas completed major interior refurbishment projects on five Royal Caribbean Group ships during the first six months of the year. The refurbishments included work completed on Ovation of the Seas. [2]
The sale listing offers buyers the opportunity to acquire a retired mega-ship directly through a private yacht brokerage. As FTMQ Travel reported earlier, Royal Caribbean also operates other active vessels in its global fleet, including Odyssey of the Seas. [1][8]
