A 44-year-old woman who went overboard from Royal Caribbean's Odyssey of the Seas on October 9, 2026, was recovered alive in the Ionian Sea early on October 10, Cruise Hive reported. A passing cargo ship spotted the Salvadoran national roughly 70 nautical miles southwest of Zakynthos, citing information from Greek news outlet Ellada24 and the Hellenic Coast Guard. [1]
A Coast Guard vessel picked up the passenger while she was conscious and brought her to Katakolo, Cruise Hive said. According to passengers posting on Reddit, the captain of the Odyssey of the Seas announced on October 10 that she was rescued around 2:00 a.m., approximately 20 hours after entering the water. [1]
