A Houthi ballistic missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh killed 12 civilians and injured over 300 others on October 10, according to reports from Reuters, CBC, and Paddley Too. Saudi authorities confirmed the attack, which targeted the facility on Saturday night. CNN and Paddley Too reported that exactly 309 people were wounded in the strike. [1][2][3][4][5][7][8][10]

Paddley Too reported that the blast occurred inside the main Terminal 3 building of the airport. Officials confirmed some of the wounded suffered critical injuries. India Today reported that flight operations at the Riyadh airport were halted following the incident. The strike follows days of repeated Houthi attacks against the facility, according to The New York Times and NBC News. [4][6][8][9]

The ongoing armed conflict between Saudi Arabian armed forces and Houthi forces from Yemen began following a Saudi-led intervention in 2015. As FTMQ Travel reported earlier, King Khalid International Airport had previously closed after an earlier Houthi missile strike destroyed a parked Saudia Airbus A320 aircraft. International carriers including Lufthansa and Air India had already suspended services to the hub through October 10. [11][12]
