Jamaica is targeting Canadian travelers to fill approximately 400,000 available airline seats for the upcoming winter travel season. South Florida Caribbean News and Open Jaw both report that Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett announced the seat capacity while preparing for the nation's winter tourism period. [1][2]
Bartlett delivered the update to an audience of 300 travel advisers and tourism stakeholders in Toronto, South Florida Caribbean News reported. He stated that Canadian partners will be central to converting available flight inventory into active bookings and restoring traveler confidence after Hurricane Melissa. Bartlett noted during the presentation that the storm was able to bend the country, but could not break it. [1]
As FTMQ Travel reported earlier, Jamaica is running a marketing campaign across five Canadian cities to fill the 400,000 winter airline seats. Canadian flight capacity to Jamaica is projected to expand by 62.1 percent between January and April 2027. [5]
The push for Canadian bookings comes after Jamaica secured ten major accolades at World Travel Week events, as FTMQ Travel reported previously. Those honors included recognitions as the Caribbean's leading destination, leading cruise destination, and leading tourist board. [6]
