Travel Retail Norway has won a tender to continue operating duty free and single price shops at four major Norwegian airports, Airport World reported. The joint venture secured an eight year contract that runs from 2028 to 2036, according to reports by Airport World and TRBusiness. The agreement covers retail locations at airport facilities in Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger, and Trondheim. [1][2][3]
The contract includes new retail infrastructure at Oslo Airport, Airport World reported. A brand new departure shop at the capital city facility will span 3,300 square meters. Airport World also noted that the existing 4,000 square meter arrivals shop at Oslo Airport will continue to operate as a flagship retail site. [1]
Travel Retail Norway is a joint venture partnership formed between Gebr. Heinemann and Norse-Trade, Airport World reported. The retail operator developed its Tax Free Norway brand concept and airport retail layout in close collaboration with Heinemann. [1]
The commercial agreement provides key funding for state owned airport operator Avinor, which is owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Transport. Avinor uses revenues generated from duty free sales, airport fees, parking, and airspace charges to fund its operations. This balanced financial structure allows the operator to subsidize less profitable regional airports across Norway using the commercial income collected from larger facilities. [1][6]
