Alaska Airlines will begin flying between Anchorage and Tokyo using Boeing 737 aircraft, according to reports from The Points Guy and View from the Wing. [2][3]
View from the Wing reported that the carrier will deploy a Boeing 737 MAX 8 on the route. The flight is scheduled to take eight hours and 15 minutes, with passengers in first class occupying recliner seats for the duration of the journey. [3]
Separately, Simple Flying reported that United Airlines continues to operate routes exceeding 3,000 miles using the Boeing 737 MAX. The carrier uses these modern narrowbody aircraft to link the continental United States with Central America, the Caribbean, Alaska, and Hawaii, as well as on long transcontinental flights. [1]
Airlines establish scheduled non stop long distance routes to lower travel times between far apart city pairs. Operating long non stop services can also strengthen brand loyalty and corporate image among frequent flyers. [6]
