Air New Zealand plans to launch its new Skynest sleeping pods in November on flights between Auckland and New York. Simple Flying reported that economy class passengers will be able to book bunk style pods for four hour sessions. [1]

The Skynest product will feature six pods for passengers to use during their flight. According to Simple Flying and Yahoo, booking a four hour session in a pod will cost 495 dollars. The airline previously introduced the Skycouch, which allows passengers to create a flat space by booking a full row and flipping up the armrests. [1]

Other carriers are also introducing modified premium options for budget conscious travelers. One Mile at a Time reported that Frontier Airlines will launch a new first class seating product for travel starting on March 5, 2027. Tickets for the new seats go on sale on March 5, 2027. [2]

Frontier Airlines originally planned to roll out its first class offering in late 2025 after announcing the initiative in early 2025. One Mile at a Time reported that the upgraded seats will be pre reclined and will not include free food or drinks. [2]

Business class historically served as an intermediate level between economy class and first class. Many commercial airlines now offer business class as their highest level of service and differentiate it through upgraded seating, catering, and ground amenities. [3]
