Etihad Rail has partnered with Citymapper to allow passengers across the United Arab Emirates to plan end-to-end trips, Khaleej Times, Gulf News, and Zawya reported. The integration enables travelers to coordinate entire journeys across multiple transport modes, including trains, metro lines, buses, and on-demand transit services, within one application as the national rail network expands. [1][2][7]

According to Khaleej Times, the Citymapper application allows passengers to navigate from their starting location to a rail station, identify the appropriate train service, and map out routes to their final destination. Arabian Business and Menafn both report that the partnership aims to streamline travel across the United Arab Emirates by providing comprehensive routing tools. [1][3][8]

Etihad Rail was established in June 2009 under Federal Law Number 2 to build and operate the national freight and passenger railway network of the United Arab Emirates. Freight operations began in 2016, and passenger services launched on 30 June 2026 with a line connecting Fujairah and Abu Dhabi using trains operating at speeds up to 200 kilometers per hour. Citymapper was founded in 2011 in London and operates as a transport application offering live departure schedules and route directions. [9][11][12]

The new digital trip planning features arrive as Etihad Rail continues to expand passenger options across its network. Travels Dubai reported earlier that passengers also receive access to a free shuttle service to Yas Island. [1][6]
