American Airlines will expand its installation of Starlink satellite Wi-Fi to cover its entire mainline fleet, according to reports by The Points Guy, One Mile at a Time, Paddley Too, and View from the Wing. The updated initiative broadens an earlier plan announced in May that was limited to the carrier's Airbus narrowbody aircraft. [2][4][5][6]
The expanded rollout will cover about 1,000 jets by adding Boeing 737, 777, and 787 aircraft to the schedule, View from the Wing reported. Installations on the long-haul fleet are set to start in early 2027, though the carrier has not provided a final completion date. [6]
Separately, Simple Flying reported that American Airlines has completed the first cabin overhaul under its Project Olympus program on a Boeing 777-300ER. The retrofitted widebody features 70 Flagship Suites and 26 additional seats, while retaining an 11-person cabin crew. [1]
The carrier is also deploying its Airbus A321XLR aircraft on domestic transcontinental routes, including flights between New York John F Kennedy International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport, according to One Mile at a Time. [3]
