United Airlines is accelerating its rollout of Starlink high-speed internet to cover more than 1,000 mainline aircraft by May 2027, Simple Flying and View from the Wing reported. The carrier plans to install the satellite internet system on more than 20 jets every week to meet this timeline. [1][2]

According to graphics shared by aviation industry source JonNYC, cited by View from the Wing and Simple Flying, the installation process will be carried out across a network of 17 maintenance stations. The aggressive schedule is intended to make fast, free Wi-Fi a primary competitive advantage for the airline. [1][2]

The accelerated timeline puts United ahead of rival Delta Air Lines, Simple Flying and View from the Wing reported. Delta Air Lines signed an agreement for Amazon satellite internet covering an initial 500 aircraft, but those installations are not scheduled to begin until 2028 at the earliest. [1][2]
