A fire damaged one of two railcars operated by the Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum in Adams on Saturday afternoon. The Berkshire Eagle reported that emergency services were alerted to the smoky fire at approximately 4:30 p.m. [1]

The fire began in the undercarriage equipment of Car 41, which is one of two electric-powered Hoosac Valley service cars used to transport passengers between Adams and North Adams. The newspaper reported that the incident caused damage to the single car. [1]

Despite the damage to the railcar, scheduled train services will not be canceled. Melanie Seiden, the executive director of the Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum, said at the scene that Sunday's Pumpkin Patch Ride will proceed using the train's undamaged lead coach. [1]

Seiden stated that the damaged car would be moved away from the main track. The museum had not yet determined how or when the repairs to Car 41 would take place. [1]
