Storm Boelo disrupts rail, road, and air travel across Britain and Ireland

Storm Boelo brought severe travel disruption across parts of southern England, Scotland, and Ireland on October 24, 2026. Fallen trees blocked multiple roads and railway lines across Kent following a night of stormy weather. Kent Online reported that heavy rain created additional risks of surface water flooding across the county. [1]

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain in Kent that remained active until 11pm. Kent Online noted that the disruption directly followed strong winds from Storm Austen on Friday. Travel Tourister also reported that Storm Austen caused power cuts and train disruptions prior to the arrival of Storm Boelo. [1][8]

Rail services and roads were also impacted in Scotland. The BBC and the traveler website reported that train cancellations and road alerts were put in place as Storm Boelo moved across Scotland. As FTMQ Travel reported earlier, Network Rail planned line closures across Scotland with wind gusts expected to reach 80 mph. [2][3][4][5][12]

Air and sea travel faced similar operational delays. The Irish Sun reported that Dublin Airport confirmed flight cancellations and delays, while Stena Line suspended selected ferry sailings. Rus Tourism News specifically reported that Dublin Airport logged nine flight cancellations as the storm hit Ireland. [6][7]
