European Union officials stated on Thursday that it is too early to draw conclusions on whether a series of hoax bomb alerts targeting European flights are connected. Euronews.com reported that Italian, French, and Bulgarian fighter jets scrambled to respond as at least 27 flights were targeted by threats on Tuesday. EU transport commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas stated on X that any threats against civilians are unacceptable and noted that Brussels is following events closely alongside national authorities. [1]
The disruptions included the brief closure of a Warsaw airport and the scrambling of air force planes in Rome, according to Euronews.com. The incidents marked the third day in the week that flights across the region faced false bomb alerts. [1]
As FTMQ Travel reported earlier, multiple flights across Europe were diverted, searched, or escorted by military aircraft following false threats on Nov. 3, 2026. Affected carriers included LOT Polish Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines, Wizz Air, and Ryanair. During those incidents, one flight received an Italian Air Force escort until landing, while another flight heading to Bulgaria diverted to Hungary. No injuries were reported during the disruptions.
