Several flights across Europe faced operational disruptions on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, after receiving false bomb threats while in transit, PBS reported. The fake threats resulted in aircraft searches, diversions, and military escorts before the flights landed safely. According to PBS, official sources confirmed that no individuals were injured during these incidents. [1]

The disruptions affected a range of commercial carriers across the region. PBS reported that impacted airlines included Polish airline LOT, Scandinavian Airlines, Wizz Air, and Ryanair. According to Newsweek, seven flights were targeted by suspected bomb threats within a matter of hours, while the BBC reported that flights originating from United Kingdom airports were among six flights targeted across Europe. [1][2][7]

The false threats prompted immediate security protocols and emergency responses in European airspace. PBS reported that one impacted aircraft was escorted by the Italian Air Force until it safely landed. The incidents followed a similar security threat on Monday, November 2, when a passenger flight bound for Bulgaria was forced to divert to Hungary while airborne after receiving an alleged bomb threat, according to PBS. [1]

Security and flight safety experts are analyzing the scope of the threats made against European air traffic. PBS reported that Matthew Borie of Osprey Flight Solutions, an organization that advises commercial airlines on flight threats, began assessing the details surrounding the false reports. Crew Center reported that the string of bomb threats in Europe also caused disruptions extending to a cruise ship. [1][8]
