Navi Mumbai International Airport has expanded its domestic network by adding nine new destinations across India. The Times of India and The New Indian Express both report that the newly connected locations include Agatti via Goa-MOPA, Darbhanga, Guwahati, Jalgaon, Jodhpur, Ranchi, Bagdogra, Sindhudurg, and Udaipur. [1][2]
The Times of India reported that the airport has processed 35,88,675 total passengers since commercial operations began on December 25 last year. That figure includes 35,80,233 domestic travelers and 8,442 international passengers. The outlet also noted that the airport has logged 27,185 scheduled aircraft movements, of which 27,111 were domestic flights. [1]
Navi Mumbai is located on the Indian mainland in Maharashtra state, opposite the city of Mumbai across Thane Creek. The City and Industrial Development Corporation originally planned the township as a mainland satellite development to relieve severe urban congestion and housing shortages in Mumbai. [3][5]
As FTMQ Travel reported earlier, the full transition of long-haul international flights to the new airport faces delays. Airlines such as Emirates have raised concerns over facility readiness, and the shift of international services to Navi Mumbai has been deferred until March 2027. [6]
