British Airways deploys Airbus A380 fleet to restricted Heathrow destinations
British Airways operates twelve Airbus A380 aircraft to only seven or eight destinations out of London Heathrow Airport, using its largest aircraft to maximize slot capacity.

British Airways currently operates 12 Airbus A380 aircraft out of London Heathrow Airport to seven or eight total destinations, Simple Flying reported. Although the airline serves more than 200 cities worldwide, it restricts its largest passenger aircraft to a small subset of its overall network. Simple Flying noted that the slot cap restrictions at London Heathrow explain why the airline relies on the double-deck jet to carry high volumes to a few key locations. [1]
The carrier operates twelve Airbus A380 jets, which ties it with Singapore Airlines for the largest fleet of the type outside of Emirates, according to Simple Flying. The Airbus A380 is a large wide-body airliner produced from 2003 to 2021, and it remains the world's largest passenger airliner as well as the only full-length double-deck jet airliner. [1][3]
As FTMQ Travel reported earlier, British Airways is retrofitting its Airbus A380 fleet to dedicate the entire upper deck to 106 Club Suite business class seats. The redesign removes 88 economy seats from each aircraft while expanding premium economy capacity by more than 50 percent. The first retrofitted aircraft is set to enter service in the coming months as part of a broader layout overhaul. [5]
