London Stansted Airport welcomed a record total of 2.88 million passengers in September, Airport World reported. The monthly throughput represented a 6.4 percent increase compared to the same month in the previous year. It surpassed the former September record, which was set in 2024, by 170,000 passengers. [1]

The operational boost was driven by high demand for late summer warm weather destinations and long weekend trips, according to Airport World. Operational metrics showed 12 individual days during the month where daily passenger numbers exceeded 100,000. The airport had not previously surpassed that daily volume threshold during any September. [1]

London Stansted Airport is an international hub serving London and the south-east of England. It is located in Uttlesford, Essex, about 31 miles north-east of Central London. [3]

The strong performance brought the rolling 12-month passenger count for the airport to 30.87 million, Airport World reported. That figure marks an increase of 2.9 percent compared to the annual total recorded in 2025. [1]
