An Emirates flight bound for Dubai was forced to turn back to Adelaide Airport early on Tuesday following a mechanical issue in the air, ABC News reported. The Daily Mail also reported that the flight abandoned its journey and returned to Adelaide in the middle of the night. [1][3][4]

Flight EK441 departed Adelaide Airport at 10:35pm on Monday, but the pilots turned the aircraft around before reaching the West Australian border, ABC News reported. An Adelaide Airport spokesperson said the Airbus A350-900 landed safely shortly after 2am on Tuesday. Emergency fire services were present on the tarmac upon arrival as a precautionary measure. [1][3]

Adelaide Airport is situated roughly six kilometres west of the Adelaide city centre. Dubai International Airport serves as a major global hub and is the primary international airport for the United Arab Emirates. [6][7]

According to an Adelaide Airport spokesperson, passengers on board the flight were provided with hotel accommodations or chose to return to their homes overnight. The airport stated that travelers were rebooked to depart on a later Emirates flight on Tuesday evening. [1][3]
